Beyond Covid:

Dealing with the pandemic was difficult as I never knew what to expect or what the outcome would be, but it taught me that despite the challenges there will always be something to look forward to. Moving on, I will now try to be positive and look for the good in obstacles life throws at me

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

Many people do not know that I love to bake. Baking has been something that I enjoy doing as well as find interesting for a while now. The pandemic allowed me to make many new things and bake a lot more often.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In ten years I want to have finished school and become a pharmacist. I want to travel the world and then have a family that I hope to impact just like my family did for me.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory was getting to cheer at the state game for girls basketball. It was super exciting and I’ll never get to experience that again. Being up close to the court at pacers stadium and cheering them on was a memory I’ll never forget.

Beyond Covid:

When the pandemic first became a very crazy and uncertain concern we had obviously been quarantined for a long period of time. I feel that during that time, many people really grew from it, including myself. Some things I learned that also helped me grow as a person were to not take the time I have with people for granted and to worry less about what could go wrong and focus more and what could go well and what you can get out of a situation. Going forward, I will take those lessons with me even with the uncertainty of the future. There are always ups and downs, but it is how you overcome those rough patches that is really important.

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

Something people may not know about me is that I really enjoy things love clothes, interior design, drawing, painting, and finding ways to be creative.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory would have to be winning nationals with the dance team. Being on that stage during awards is such an intense moment. To be able to hear us be called the national champions twice that year was beyond amazing. It truly felt like all of our hard work and long hours had paid off.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

Many people have made impacts on my life, especially members in my family. But someone who has really impacted my view on life is my brother. He has exemplified the idea of changing your life for the better and really growing from what you go through. Taking away what you’ve learned from the past to better your future is so important. My brother has been a role model for me my whole life and I am so grateful for him and his advice, love, and support.

Beyond Covid:

The COVID-19 pandemic was an eye opener for me. The pandemic affected me because it made me very sad that I could not see the people I loved whenever I wanted. By going through this experience, I have learned to never take anything for granted and to enjoy each and every moment because you never know what is going to happen next.

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

I have 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I see myself teaching in an elementary school.

Beyond Covid:

Surprisingly, back in 2020 when covid first impacted our area, it actually kick started my healthy life style once we were all sent home from school. With all this extra time on my hands I was waking up earlier, exercising, learning how to eat healthier, and having a good sleep routine. Along with this u was able to spend so much time with my family and have so many movie nights. Being hime with everyone and all my older siblings having to work their jobs from home, we all got so much closer than we ever had been. Now that precautions are starting to ease up, my family is keeping this bond and making sure to spend as much of our down time as we can together. My two sisters, brother, and I have even planned a trip for this summer, and that would have never even been a thought before. Going forward from here I’m glad I now know to not take so much down time for granted, and to take that opportunity to do something great with it.

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

Very random but I absolutely HATE rollercoasters. I’m afraid of heights and just think I’m going to fly off the track. If you’ve ever been to Disney World you know that most of the rides are pretty doable and the whole point is just the story behind them. I love going on every single ride except Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster because I’ve never gone on a ride with loops and corkscrews. However, this spring break we went to Disney and I finally went on that ride, and I loved it! So basically, point of this story is that I’m a big kid now.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I see myself working as a public relations manager for a professional sports team. I will have graduated from Purdue University with a marketing major and a public relations minor. I also plan to have moved south to warm weather, maybe Texas or Florida. It’s crazy to think but I could even be married by then and starting a family of my own.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory would be each time I was able to cheer on the basketball team and along with the student section at each varsity game. Of course this year was a little different, but for the past couple years, being right there on the court next to the game is so exciting. Especially when there’s a big win against a rival team, the whole crowd goes wild and I am able to have the best view. There’s no words to describe that.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

I’m general my family and friends have had such a big impact on my life. No one completely in particular, but my family always keeps me in line and makes sure I have good morals and treat others with respect. But they also make sure I stick up for myself when the time is necessary. As for my friends, they bring me so much happiness that I never knew I could find. I’m so glad to have gotten close with them at the end of my junior year because now we are inseparable. Unfortunately, they are all a year older than me, but most of them go to college close enough that we can see each other off and on still. I don’t know what I would do without each and every person in my life.

DETERMINED | AMBITIOUS | OUTGOING

Beyond Covid:

Dealing with the pandemic was a struggle at first. Throughout this whole time I have learned multiple ways to adapt to situations I have been put in. One being, volleyball. My senior season was taken away from me due to covid. It was honestly heart breaking and so hard as a senior. But as time went on I moved on for the better. I am now in club season, and we have gone to multiple tournaments which feels normal, besides wearing the mask of course. Another big thing as seniors is missing prom, and the normal events all others were able to attend at our age. I changed my mind set on that as I am not the only one struggling with this. I have learned from the pandemic to adapt, overcome, and improvise every situation thrown at me.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself working at a fashion industry or a big merchandising company in the higher ups. After I am done playing volleyball in college, I hope to finally find somewhere to settle down. I hope to have 3 kids or at least 1 by then. I want to be able to enjoy my job and enjoy the things I love doing. I hope to travel to at least a couple of my dream destinations.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory is definitely starting my first game as a freshman on the varsity volleyball team. This is my favorite memory because a lot of people did not know me and my capability playing at such a young age. I learned a lot being in that position, and it honestly set me up for success throughout my years playing high school volleyball.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

I think my mom has definitely made the biggest impact on my life. I could not live without her. Even though we have our different opinions at times, we always find a way back to each other. My mom had a unique childhood compared to a lot of people. She barley went to school as a kid. She was always traveling all over the world to different countries and staying with different families as she competed on the USA National gymnastics team. She was also in the Olympic trials. My mom has taught me that no one notices the things you accomplish and how hard you work for them until they see for themselves. My mom competed at a high level for so long then went to college at Nebraska where she competed at a division 1 level as a gymnast. This has defiantly pushed and motivated me a lot. I learned from my mom to go get the things I want and never to wait around for them to come to me. My mom is defiantly the biggest influencer in my life.

COMPASSIONATE | CONFIDENT | OPEN-MINDED

Beyond Covid:

The pandemic has certainly taken a toll on everyone’s lives and dealing with it during our senior year has not been easy. It was hard to cope with the idea that I would never go to senior prom or that I wouldn’t have a typical senior cheer season. However throughout the struggles of the past year I have learned that you have to make the best out of what you are given.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I see myself working for a merchandising company in a big city, preferably Chicago or New York. Living in a cute apartment in the heart of the city. I ideally would like to be married and adopt a dog at that point. I want to be happy with my job and hopefully will move traveling to a few of my dream vacation spots.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory was when I cheered at the first football game my senior year. It was a super surreal moment for me as I had been waiting for it for 4 years. Even thought it hadn’t been the ideal way I pictured it due to covid, it was nonetheless an amazing memory.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

My mother is the person who has made the biggest impact on my life. She is a single mom who has provided my brother and I with everything we need. She works full time but never fails to be there for us with everything we do in our lives. I thank her for making me the strong-willed person I am today. She raised me to be independent and to go after anything that I put my mind to.

CARING | LOVING | HAPPY

Beyond Covid:

Experiencing this pandemic being a senior in high school was something I never even imagined would happy. It’s affected me in so many different ways but I’ve chose to try and just focus on the positives day by day. Moving forward, I know I need to appreciate certain things that I think are always going to be given to me much more, because they could be taken away so easily by things completely out of my control.

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

Something most people don’t know about me is that I am a cheerleader, and have cheered the majority of my life. I can also wiggle my ears!

My favorite high school memory was the senior trip I went on over spring break in 2021. It was such an amazing experience and I had the time of my life with my closest friends. It was nice to get away and try and forget about the negatives that have happened this year and last year with COVID.

Beyond Covid:

I think that Covid has been very hard on many students my age, but ultimately has made me and many others stronger than before.
