Beyond Covid:

The pandemic affected me in both positive and negative ways. Looking at the negative side, it was very difficult for me to adjust to this brand new life of the unknown. Not being able to see friends or family, leave my house, or finish out my junior year of school was not easy. The summer was a bit easier to manage, while I was often bored due to a lack of places to go and friends to see, I was able to enjoy my summer job of lifeguarding. After the summer, life took a positive turn. I was able to return to school for my senior year, I could see my friends and family, leave my house, and return to cheerleading, something I had missed greatly. Living through the pandemic will impact my future as I head off to college. I have learned so much about myself and the world in which we live. I have learned to accept ever changing situations and that I have control over how I react to them. I have found that peace means accepting the opinions of the people around me and embracing our differences as power to grow and make change. If we all believe and think the same, we will never advance. As I head to college and experience the new normal, I am better equipped to handle the twists and turns of adult life.

What is something a lot of people may not know about you?:

One thing that not a lot of people may know about me is that I love science and that helped me find my passion for donating blood. The first time I donated blood was my junior year of high school to get extra credit points in one of my science classes, but the process was so easy and rewarding that I fell in love with it. The thought of knowing that I can save up to three lives by donating a pint of blood is AMAZING. Fun fact, my record for donating a pint is 3 minutes and 54 seconds (the average pint takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes to donate).

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I will be 28, wrapping up medical school and beginning residency. My plans for the future are to get my bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and ultimately get my doctorate and become an anesthesiologist. In 10 years, I also see myself regularly hosting and donating and blood drives, volunteering for church, and helping charities such as St. Judes. In 10 years, I don’t think I will be ready to start a family, but I will have my own place to live and I will use my skills to help others.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory is my time spent with friends. Being able to go through my high school journey with such amazing people is what made these past four years of my life so memorable. I made so many amazing friends and we share unforgettable memories.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

The person who has made a big impact on my life is my mom. She has raised me to be the person that I am today. She has smiled with me through all of my good times and has been there to uplift me during bad times. My mom is my biggest fan, number one supporter, and is always here for me.

Beyond Covid:

During COVID especially for senior it was definitely not the best thing to happen. But what I got out of the Pandemic was to not take anything for granted. You never know what’s going to happen and NO ONE would have expected this. So definitely to cherish the little things in life and never take things for granted. Someone that has had a big impact on my life is my mom. We were thrown a big curveball in my life when my dad passed away when I was 5. So my mom had to learn how to be a single parent and raise me all on her own. She has done everything for me and always pushes me to be my best. I wouldn’t be who I am without her!

Beyond Covid:

I would definitely say that the pandemic made a huge impact on not only my life, but so many others as well. I think that everyone dealt with the pandemic in many different ways. Some, me included, took the time to focus on themselves and make changes in their lives that would forever stick. The pandemic was and still is something that affects everyone’s daily life and hopefully sooner, rather than later, things will go back to how they once were, but for now I would say the best thing for everyone to do is to stay safe and never take anything for granted because life can change in a blink of an eye. Moving forward though, I think that having had experienced this pandemic and all the craziness it brought will change the way I live my life. It showed me that I should never take the little things in life for granted because at any moment it can all be stripped away from you.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I hope to have successfully achieved my dream of completing nursing school and working at a hospital as a pediatric nurse practitioner.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

There are truly too many memories to choose from when it comes to high school, but the one that tops them all was being able to experience life with my best friends by my side the whole way. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be who I am today and I will never be able to thank them enough for that. They showed me what real best friends are and stuck with me through thick and thin. Having the opportunity to go through the entirety of high school with them is something I will always remember.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

My mom is definitely someone who has made the biggest impact in my life thus far. She never fails to put a smile on my face, even when times are tough. Not only that, but she is truly the best role model. She showed me that in life if you want something YOU need to make the effort and go get whatever it is you want because nothing in life is handed to you. She is someone I will always look up to and hope to be like in the future.

SMART | CARING | LOVING | FRIENDLY

Beyond Covid:

Dealing with the pandemic affected me by taking away family and being able to socialize with everyone. Family is important to me and not being able to have our yearly parties was upsetting. This experience will impact my future going forward by never taking anything for granted because it can be taken just as quickly as it was given. All the time I get with family and friends will not always be cherished.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I see myself graduated from college with a degree in nursing. I hope to be working in the NICU or an assistant nurse in labor and delivery. I hope to be happily married with at least 2 children and still planning on more.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory is probably all of the football and basketball games with our huge lake central student sections. These games always had so much energy and motivation.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

My mom has definitely made a big impact on my life. She has done this because since birth she has always showed me my rights from wrongs and no matter if I made a bad decision or not she was there to help me through it. My mom is the strongest person I know and definitely has done her job by passing on that trait to me.

OUTGOING | FUNNY | HANDSOME

Beyond Covid:

When covid first came and started to spread many of us never assumed it would become a global pandemic. Mask mandates across the states, social distancing, constantly making sure to wash hands and keep everything clean, these are all things we had to adapt to in our everyday life’s due to this pandemic. Is that going to stop us from who we are? Not at all! This pandemic was very hard for many people but also brought other opportunities to others. Going through this me and my family remodeled our house and stayed inside as much as possible. We wanted to do our part to help get over this hill to see the better in the future! Growing up while in high school when this happened really did change my view on things. I found it that although school and the high school experience was amazing, going online for my schooling helped me out more. With that being said I believe that in my future I could do a job from home and feel comfortable with it now due this as before I would never.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but building the new.

MOTIVATED | SYMPATHETIC | OPTIMISTIC

Beyond Covid:

The pandemic really put a downer on most of the things I had planned. Looking back at quarantine and not being able to see the people I cared about made me realize that I never want to take that for granted again. This whole COVID experience has gave me an opportunity to work and focus on myself. In the future I will look back at everyone having to wear masks and be socially distant and be thankful that everyone was able to get through it.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself somewhere warm. I’d imagine that I’d complete all my schooling that I’d need to have for what I want to be. Hopefully I’ll be settled down somewhere tropical with friends or even with my family.

What is your favorite High School memory and why?

My favorite high school memory is definitely all of the homecomings and formals I got to attend. Dances were my favorite part of high school, I loved to get dressed up and take pictures with my friends. My freshman year homecoming was probably one of my favorite memories because everything was so new as a freshman, it was my first high school dance and I was with all of my friends so it was important to me.

Is there anyone who has made a big impact on your life and why?

I believe that if anyone has made a big impact on my life it is my parents. Both my mom and dad have supported me through everything that I decided to do in my life. Through dance and throughout my whole journey of competing they have been by my side at every moment. My parents taught me everything I know and have shaped me into the person I am today.
